I just noticed Stew Mac has discontinued their ivoroid binding sales ,probably because of product liability issues due to their flammable nature. Does anyone know of other sources for the rippled ivoroid material?   Thanks, Buddy

Holy fire extinguisher, Batman! With that "logic" they will have to discontinue wood, some glues, finish materials, etc. Heck....95%+ OF A GUITAR IS FLAMMABLE!

Next they will do away with strings...because one could break and get you with the flailing wire!

Finally, we'll probably have to stamp every pregnant woman's belly with   "Caution! Being born is a 100% sure cause of death." as a warning label for all future babies. Gee, I'll bet some bureaucrat may even want every sperm and egg labeled as to the danger of their union.

Hank, That was great, ha !   Here's what Stew Mac has to say on their website when you plug in an ivoroid binding catalog number...

"Because it is a highly flammable solid, we no longer offer products made of celluloid nitrate. We regret any inconvenience this may cause."

Thanks for the leads on companies that still sell it. I'll be ordering some soon, before it disappears from the general marketplace like the automotive lacquers did.

My ** guess ** is that it is hard to ship being so highly flamable. Shippers are always asking me about how flamable the things I send are....
